Named one of the top ten journalism programs in the country, Lehigh University's Department of Journalism has a history that dates back to the time of the penny press. Our student newspaper, The Brown and White, has been published since 1894, and Lehigh has awarded undergraduate degrees in Journalism since 1927. Now, the Department also offers a major in Science and Environmental Writing and a minor in Mass Communications.
Our students have consistently found work in the top ranks of journalism, such as the Washington Post, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Time, the Associated Press, MSNBC, ABC News, and CNN among other media outlets. We are one of the few programs in the country that can guarantee internships for every one of our students before graduation. Our program teaches traditional skills like research, reporting, writing, and editing while also providing instruction in the practice and principles of digital and social media. By emphasizing critical thinking, ethics and law, and an understanding of the role of journalism in today's global society, students flourish in their careers.

Located in the historic Coppee Hall and housed under the College of Arts and Sciences, students receive a broad liberal arts education from a university that is consistently ranked among the top 50 universities in the United States by U.S. News & World Report.
